In this era, we found a sand playground. This was at Clementi Central, near the hawker centre. We believe the playground is more than 30 years old!! It's fun, the slide is super smooth! Wheeee!!

At Clementi Ave 3, between the downstairs of Blk 433 and the AYE bus stop, there used to be a *magnificent* playground made of steel and concrete in a sand pit.
A cascading platform made of steel bars, 6 to 8 meters tall. You could climb to the top and enjoy the view around you.
Concrete slide structure with a hole in the middle (like the one shown in the pic in front of Blk 445).
Swings with leather-rubber seats and suspended on thick iron chains.
A couple of see-saws made with *tropical* hardwood planks and complete with steel handles and pivot.
I think it was around the early-mid 1990s when the playground was demolished and replaced with a generic colorful plastic 'child-safe' playground with padded flooring.
Later, that was also dismantled then shifted to its present location in between Blk 434 and Blk 435.
Kids these days do not know what they have been missing.
Thank you for capturing a piece of my nostalgia. Blk 445 is currently being emptied out for an upcoming en bloc demolition, and the sand pit playground will most likely not survive.
